BOOM! Another meeting wraped up and in the books. Huge thanks to Fairfield University for hosting us this month, as well as our speakers – Jonah Fine from RED Digital Cinema, and writer/director Stephen Dest. We had an amazing turnout of students and local group members alike, and it seemed that everyone had a great time.
Mr. Dest screened two trailers, one from his narrative film “My Brother Jack” and one from his upcoming documentary “I Am Shakespeare – The Henry Green Story”, and spoke about the different process in creating the two; from writing to editing. He also spoke about the different ways in which the two genres can be funded and the importance of following through and not giving up.
Jonah from RED Digital brought in the new Weapon camera, and showed off some of the new features, as well as what is new in the rest of the line from the Raven to the Scarlet W. We also got a great look at some “Shot On Red” projects from some amazing cinematographers around the world, while everyone got a little hands on time with the demo unit, which was certainly a highlight of the night for me, haha.
Last but not least I want to give a big shoutout to our raffle prize winners – Lance Coughlin (Red Giant Magic Bullet Looks), Bryan Murphy (Digieffects Plugin Suite), Ian Smith and Elijah Hooker (Tool Farm Training Programs), Kathy Burke (Video Copilot Element 3D), Caitlyn Dour (Boris BCC 10), and Trish Clark (1 year Adobe Creative Cloud). I hope all of these plugins and programs serve you all well, it’s some amazing products from some amazing companies that we are proud to have support us.
Check out the gallery below for some shots from the night, and I look forward to seeing you all at our next meeting in April!
Stay Creative,
DB
